Remaining Vibrant Members of Community: Yanes-Beckley ’19 at Lincoln Park Village in Chicago, Illinois

Jun 13, 2016

For the past month, I have been working for an organization known as Lincoln Park Village. My employer’s goal is to help older people continue being vibrant members of the community, who can help others and receive help as well. I am a media intern who often attend’s the Village’s events so I can take pictures, and capture all of the amazing moments that happen when I least expect it. When I am not doing that, I am usually in the office of the Village, where I edit the videos and pictures, and even complete other tasks such as formatting flyers for upcoming Village events. Since the organization is relatively new, I am constantly amazed by the way they reach out to people all over Chicago, and how the ever-growing number of members genuinely appreciate having a Village who cares about them and helps them keep moving forward. While I do not plan on being a photographer in the future, the computer and technological skills I constantly have to use in this job will be helpful in nearly every career field. Also, it has taught me new information about Apple products and how I can use it to benefit myself at work or home.
