A journal of social practice & professional engagement for the Antioch community

Paraclete

Education Intern

Tasks & Responsibilities:

The Paraclete seeks mission-driven educators who want to work for social justice through education. Working with our 60 students, from 13 different countries who speak 10 different languages, is the basis of a profound term of service. Paraclete students are low-income (about 60% live below the poverty line) and dedicated to their studies, demonstrated by their regular twelve-hour school days. Antioch interns mentor and tutor our students, provide support to teaching staff, and perform administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Experience working with youth; passion for holistic education; strong work ethic; ability to solve problems independently; strong ability to work both individually and as a member of a team; Spanish proficiency preferred.

Learning Opportunities:

Interns enjoy free housing with Paraclete faculty in our beautiful former convent, less than a mile from the beach in South Boston. This unique community will be a place where your learning and growth extends far beyond the classroom. Antioch interns also have the chance to play several different roles within the program. Interns work closely with students, teachers, and administrative staff throughout their experience. Additional opportunities are often available as well, from grant writing to program development projects.
