Students who are interested in programming may engage in tasks related to conceiving of an event, grant-writing, and community outreach. Such tasks include: 1) Envisioning an event for the campus or the community that is both manageable in scope for the coop intern and that will compliment the mission and purpose of the Peace Resource Center 2) Planning the event including the creation of a budget 3) Applying for funding for the event 4) Promotion and outreach to ensure the success of the event. 5) Carrying out the event including all logistical elements.

Learning Opportunities:

Cooperative students will build upon existing critical reading, writing, communication, and organizational skills and apply them to a professional setting. For example, a student who works with primary historical sources in our archive will learn how to synthesize these sources for purposes of public promotion of the archive or for formal academic research in an academic community. Students who engage in event planning will learn how to fund (grant writing) and promote the event from beginning to completion. No Co-op student will be expected to work alone, but will always work in tandem with the Peace Resource Center’s staff.
