Caregiver
Tasks & Responsibilities
Co-op students will have their own bedroom but will share a house with 2-6 adults with disabilities and 1-2 other volunteers. Students will help with cooking , cleaning and the social life of the household. Students will also help in various workstations, office and/or our house Amity (with most dependent coworkers). This will depend on the student’s interests as well as our needs.
Qualifications:
We would prefer a lively personality with abilities/experience in leading a group or 1-on-1 activities in our community. Experience with adults with disabilities is not necessary but a bonus. Being patient and flexible is more important. We would like a student with driving experience of at least 3 years and proof of a clean record(not mandatory, but helpful).
Learning Opportunities:
How to identify and address the needs of adults with disabilities. How to live in a 70 person intentional community. The possibility of some farming, gardening, weaving, cooking, baking or woodworking skills
Additional Comments:
Innisfree has about 18 Residential Caregivers, also volunteers, living here at any one time. They serve our community for 12 months, are from a variety of countries and will have a slightly more house oriented/care for coworkers than the Co-op students. We want the Co-op students to support the work of these house volunteers.
