Muddy Fork Farm

Farm Assistant

Tasks & Responsibilities:

The student will assist in all operations including planting, weeding, trellising, pruning, harvesting and livestock care. Additional opportunities for selling at Farmer’s markets are available.

Qualifications:

Healthy lifestyle, positive attitude, good work ethic, and willingness to learn. Experience is a plus but not necessary.

Learning Opportunities:

How to start, maintain, harvest, store and cook food crops; students will also learn how to care for bees, chickens and goats. Students will gain some marketing experience.

Additional Comments:

Dress: comfortable clothes that are adequate for weather conditions. Good work boots, gloves and rain gear. Modesty is appreciated when working with the Amish employees. Owner is from Colombia and hires local youth, some Hispanic speaking migrant workers and local Amish youth. A friendly eclectic group of farm workers. CSA cooperative, farmer’s market, social media, marketing, and a little work at Local Roots in Wooster. Due to housing situation, only hires females.
