Student Spotlight: Rowan Coburn-Griffis ’18

For her co-op, Rowan Coburn-Griffis joined the team at Points Unknown “dedicated to educating the public in the Hedlund Husky story…. Points Unknown leads adventure tours, which includes basic training in sled dog life and a ride, usually in the basket.”

In her blog, Rowan details her day that typically starts around 6:00am and ends around 8:30pm. Daily tasks consist of bonding with the dogs and maintaining the kennels and trails. Rowan has been able to explore nature alongside the dogs with visits to Mount Josephine, Mink Mountain, High Falls, and more! She has even taken a dive in Lake Superior. According to Rowan, “it’s very cold!”

Overall, this has been an enjoyable learning for Rowan who states, “The dogs are happy, lovely, kind souls, and I am very happy to be learning here,” says Rowan.
